Various essential oils offered beneficial effects evidencing that Lavender oil, lemon balm oil, orange oil, and rose oil were all used for dementia-related agitation. The most used aromatherapeutic treatments were the exposure of different combinations of essential oils extracted from lemon balm, rosemary, or lavender in the morning and the evening.
Many Clinical Researches posed aromatherapy as promising remedy for geriatric syndromes which may threaten the independence of older adults. A randomized control trial showed that dementia-related agitation improved with aromatherapy and the studied population became more relaxed.
